On August 24, 2026, an important change is coming for Automic users: As part of the migration of the former Automic platforms to Broadcom, the documentation currently available at docs.automic.com will move to Broadcom TechDocs.
What may initially sound like a simple platform change has a very practical impact on existing Automic environments: Many Automic Web Interface installations still use the existing docs.automic.com URLs for their built-in, context-sensitive help.
After the migration, these links will no longer work as they do today.
In this article, we explain what this means, what options Automic administrators have, and how the PEM TechDocs Gateway can solve the problem.
From automic.com to Broadcom
The documentation move is part of a larger migration. Broadcom is consolidating various existing Automic platforms and resources into its own platforms.

In this article, we focus on one aspect that affects many existing Automic installations in particular: the documentation links in the Automic Web Interface.
Why AWI help is affected
The Automic Web Interface can open documentation that matches the current context directly from various areas of AWI.
This is convenient: Instead of manually searching the documentation for a particular object, setting, or feature, users can open the relevant help page directly from AWI.
However, many existing AWI versions still use URLs under docs.automic.com for this functionality.
The migration to Broadcom TechDocs does not simply involve changing the domain name. The existing URL structure and the new Broadcom TechDocs structure are different.
As a result, old deep links will no longer automatically lead to the exact documentation page that was originally requested. For context-sensitive help in AWI, this means that a link may still take you somewhere within the documentation, but not necessarily to the content you were looking for.
What are your options?
There are several ways to address this.
A future AWI version may support the new Broadcom TechDocs links directly. Once such a version is available, the configuration can be updated accordingly.
Alternatively, the Automic documentation can be hosted locally. This gives organizations a high level of control, but it also means additional effort for hosting, updates, and ongoing maintenance.
For existing AWI installations, there is now a third option: the PEM TechDocs Gateway.
PEM TechDocs Gateway: Existing AWI help, new Broadcom documentation
The PEM TechDocs Gateway is a free redirect service that bridges the gap between these two worlds.
The concept is simple: AWI → PEM TechDocs Gateway → Broadcom TechDocs
AWI continues to generate its context-sensitive help request as usual. Instead of pointing directly to docs.automic.com, the request is sent to the PEM TechDocs Gateway.
The Gateway interprets the existing link and its context and uses this information to determine the corresponding page within the new Broadcom TechDocs documentation.
The user is then automatically redirected to Broadcom.
This means there is no need to host the entire documentation locally or wait for a future AWI version.
Only a small change to your AWI configuration
For existing installations, the setup is straightforward.
You only need to adjust the help URL pattern in application.properties. Instead of pointing to the previous Automic documentation, AWI will then use the PEM TechDocs Gateway.
The Gateway takes care of mapping the request to the corresponding Broadcom TechDocs page.

The solution can already be configured and tested before August 24, 2026. There is no need to wait until the actual shutdown.
Context-sensitive help remains available
The key benefit is not simply redirecting users from an old domain to a new one.
The PEM TechDocs Gateway supports context-sensitive help requests from AWI. It takes the information contained in the original request into account and uses it to identify the documentation page the user intended to open.
This preserves the convenience of AWI’s integrated help functionality.
The Gateway currently supports the classic AWI help. IPCE is not currently supported and must be disabled to use the Gateway. The relevant setting can be found in ipce.properties.
Free and without tracking
The PEM TechDocs Gateway is provided as a free service for the Automic community.
No registration is required to use the redirect service. The Gateway also does not collect usage data or create user profiles.
The documentation itself remains entirely with Broadcom. PEM does not host or reproduce the Broadcom documentation. It only maps the existing help request to the new TechDocs page and redirects the user there.
Test it now instead of waiting until August 24
If you currently operate an AWI installation that still uses docs.automic.com for its integrated help, you should not wait until after the migration to find out whether your documentation links still work as expected.
The PEM TechDocs Gateway can already be configured and tested today.
This allows you to verify before the migration that context-sensitive AWI help in your environment is correctly redirected to Broadcom TechDocs through the Gateway.
