Automic V26: What’s New in the Automic Web Interface – Part 2

In part 2 of our Automic V26 series, we take a closer look at more improvements to the Automic Web Interface (AWI). These include AI-assisted code generation and filters, Transport Case enhancements, and better visibility for agents and Centralized Agent Upgrade.

Automic V26: AI Code, AI Filters, Transport Case & CAU

In part 1 of our series on Automic V26, we looked at the redesigned Automic Web Interface, the new status colors, more informative workflow tasks, and the new Intelligent Assistant.

But that is far from everything Automic Automation V26 has to offer. In part 2, the focus shifts to practical features for everyday work: AI assistance directly in the Script Editor, automatically generated filters, improvements to the Transport Case, and new options for managing Automic agents with Centralized Agent Upgrade (CAU).

The Shorts embedded in this article are also excerpts from our comprehensive What’s New in Automic V26 tutorial, available to our members on PEM Automic.

AI Assistance Directly in the Script Editor

In Automic V26, AI is not limited to the Intelligent Assistant. A dedicated Code Assistant is now also available directly in the Script Editor.

More Information

Selecting “Ask Automation Assistant” opens a dialog where you can describe the code you want to generate in natural language.

The Large Language Model connected to Automic then generates the code directly in the Script Editor. For better results, it is a good idea to specify the scripting language you want the assistant to use.

Continue Refining the Code with the Assistant

The first generated version does not have to be the final result. The Automation Assistant sidebar opens automatically alongside the generated code.

From there, you can continue the conversation, request changes, or ask the assistant to correct problems. This creates an iterative workflow directly inside AWI without having to switch to an external AI tool first.

In short:
The Code Assistant in Automic V26 brings AI-assisted code generation directly into the Script Editor. Code can be created from a natural-language description and then refined together with the Automation Assistant.

Create Filters with AI Assistance

Another practical AI feature in Automic V26 is automatic filter creation. Instead of manually configuring complex filter criteria, you can simply tell the Automation Assistant what you are looking for.

You are currently viewing a placeholder content from YouTube. To access the actual content, click the button below. Please note that doing so will share data with third-party providers.

More Information

AI-assisted filter creation is available in several areas of the Automic Web Interface, including:

  • Workflow Editor
  • Workflow Monitor
  • Process Monitoring
  • Advanced Object Search
  • Agent List
  • and several other areas of AWI

Turn Natural Language into a Filter

In the example from our tutorial, we search for Job objects where the word “test” appears in one of the Archive Keys.

Instead of building the required criteria manually, you simply describe the request to the Assistant. It interprets what you are looking for and automatically creates the appropriate filter.

This can save time when working with more complex filter options and makes features easier to use when you do not know every criterion or filter structure by heart.

In short:
Automic V26 can generate filters from natural-language requests. The feature is available across several areas of AWI and reduces the effort required to configure search and filter criteria manually.

Transport Case Improvements in Automic V26

AI is one of the major themes in V26, but Broadcom has also continued to improve existing functionality. One example is the Transport Case.

You are currently viewing a placeholder content from YouTube. To access the actual content, click the button below. Please note that doing so will share data with third-party providers.

More Information

Over the last few releases, functionality that previously required separate utilities has increasingly been integrated directly into the Automic Web Interface and REST API. The Transport Case, introduced in this form with version 24.2, is one example of that development.

Automic V26 adds two more practical improvements.

Track Imports via the Client Report

Transport Case imports can now be tracked through the Client Report.

This improves transparency and makes it easier to see what happened during an import.

No More Size Limit for Transport Files

The previous size limitation for Transport Files has also been removed.

For larger object transports, this removes a restriction that previously had to be taken into account when moving larger amounts of data.

In short:
The Transport Case becomes more transparent and flexible in Automic V26. Imports can be tracked via the Client Report, and the previous size limitation for Transport Files has been removed.

More Visibility in the Agent List and CAU

Automic V26 also introduces a small but useful improvement for managing Automic agents. The Agent List now includes a new CAU Target Version column.

You are currently viewing a placeholder content from YouTube. To access the actual content, click the button below. Please note that doing so will share data with third-party providers.

More Information

The new column shows which version an agent is scheduled to be automatically upgraded or downgraded to via Centralized Agent Upgrade (CAU).

This makes the configured target version visible directly in the Agent List.

Reset the CAU Target Version

Another new option allows you to reset the configured target version directly from the context menu.

This is particularly useful when an agent was previously managed through Centralized Agent Upgrade but should later return to manual maintenance or manual upgrades.

What is the CAU Target Version?
The CAU Target Version defines which version an agent should automatically be moved to through Centralized Agent Upgrade. Automic V26 displays this information directly in the Agent List and allows the target version to be reset when required.

What Do These Automic V26 Improvements Mean in Daily Work?

Part 2 once again shows that Automic V26 is not only about a few headline features. Many of the changes are designed to make everyday tasks easier, faster, and more transparent.

The improvements covered in this article allow you to:

  • generate code directly in AWI with AI assistance
  • continue refining generated code together with the Automation Assistant
  • create complex filters using natural-language requests
  • track Transport Case imports more easily
  • use larger Transport Files without the previous size restriction
  • see CAU Target Versions directly in the Agent List
  • move agents more easily from CAU back to manual management

What stands out in particular is the growing integration of AI directly into existing Automic workflows. Rather than treating AI as a separate tool, Broadcom is embedding it where users already work: in the Script Editor, search and monitoring views, and throughout AWI.
