OPX01 - Queues for Operator

In our new operator course, you will learn how to actively control Automic queues, prioritise tasks, restart stopped queues and confidently manage maintenance. With clear exercises and real-life scenarios from everyday airport control operations.

Understanding queues – controlling tasks like an air traffic controller manages air traffic

Thousands of jobs run simultaneously in Automic Automation – but who decides when each job can start? The answer lies in an often underestimated object: the queue (QUEUE). In this course, you will learn how to monitor, control and use queues in daily operations to bring order to the automation sky.

Practical course for experienced operators

This course is the first part of the Operator Expert learning path and is aimed at advanced users who are already familiar with monitoring and manual starts. This course is not about creating or designing queues, but about what really matters in everyday operator life: starting, stopping, prioritising and understanding. Using an entertaining airport analogy (‘runways instead of queues’), you will practise step by step how to work with CLIENT_QUEUE, slots, priorities and ERT. All exercises take place in the Operator Testlab – you control the starts yourself, see the effects in monitoring and learn what happens during maintenance or bottlenecks.

What you will learn

  • The difference between CLIENT_QUEUE and your own queues
  • How to identify stopped queues and reactivate them
  • How to work with queue slots and control parallel starts
  • How workflow queues affect jobs – and when they are overwritten
  • How priorities determine the order of tasks
  • And how Consider ERT affects the start logic in the event of exceptions

Ideal for operators with a practical focus

This course does not offer abstract theory, but real everyday situations. You will learn to quickly identify errors, control maintenance windows cleanly and understand why a task is waiting even though slots are free. This way, you will always have an overview in the Automic Tower – no matter how much traffic there is on the runways.
