Automated Reset of Tasks in JSCH

The scheduler does not automatically make up for missed start times – and manually resetting tasks can quickly become time-consuming in larger environments. In this post, I’ll show you how to use JSCH_Reset to automatically reset all affected tasks. Ideal for anyone who wants to efficiently follow up on maintenance windows.
Was your Automation Engine or a JSCH ever stopped for a certain period of time? Then you probably know this phenomenon: Suddenly there are Schedule Tasks with the status ENDED_TIMEOUT – Start time exceeded. What happened? Simply: The scheduler works strictly with the current time. Past execution times missed during the downtime are not automatically made up. The tasks are considered „too late“ – and end up in timeout. That means for you: You have to manually restart the skipped tasks.   For a single JSCH this may still be harmless. A few clicks, a few resets – done. But in real environments it's different:
  • Dozens of schedule objects
  • Hundreds of tasks
  • Multiple tenants
  • Different systems
Suddenly a „quick cleanup“ becomes manual busywork with risk of errors.

Automated reset instead of a click marathon

This is exactly where JSCH_Reset comes in. Instead of checking and resetting each task individually, you simply pass the RunID of a JSCH run. The tool analyzes all contained tasks and automatically performs a reset for every task with the status ENDED_TIMEOUT. Clean. Fast. Reproducible. Especially practical: You can integrate JSCH_Reset directly into the context menu UC_SENDTO_ACT. That turns a potential maintenance disaster into a matter of a few clicks. If you manage maintenance windows or are responsible for complex scheduling landscapes, this is not a „Nice-to-know“, but a real efficiency booster.
