What's new in Broadcom Automic Automation V24.3?

With the third minor release of version 24, Broadcom Automic Automation brings a range of exciting new features that make your automation processes even more efficient and flexible. From improved archiving options to dynamic arrays and new features in the REST API - version 24.3 offers innovations for a wide range of applications.

Archiving directly from the Automation Engine

A real highlight in V24.3: the ability to start archiving directly from the Automation Engine. Whether via the graphical interface of the Automic Web Interface (AWI) or via the REST API - this new feature makes managing archived data much easier.

You decide where the files end up:

  • When using the AWI: directly in the Downloads folder of your computer.

  • Via the REST API: on the AE server, with a configurable storage path specification in ucsrv.ini.

  • For container-based AAKE environments: in a dedicated PVC.

More flexible scripting with dynamic arrays

V24.3 makes working with AE scripts even easier: The new :DEFINE Array command allows you to define array lengths dynamically using variables. This allows you to flexibly adjust the size of an array, even after it has been created - a function that makes your scripts leaner and more efficient.

Zero Downtime Upgrades for AAKE environments

Zero Downtime Upgrades (ZDU) are now also available for container-based AAKE environments. This allows you to perform upgrades with no downtime and continue your operations seamlessly. Another new feature is a progress banner in the AWI that shows you the status of the ZDU at all times - so your team always stays informed.

REST API and other new features

A new usergroups attribute has been added to the REST API. This allows you to manage user groups efficiently: Add or remove users and edit group information - ideal for larger user administrations.

The update also offers new practical features such as

  • The DELETE_EXPIRED_TOKEN parameter for automatic deletion of expired tokens.

  • USER_SESSION_TIMEOUT for adjusting the session duration in the AWI.

  • Agent improvements, including the new Java-based AIX agent with UTF-8 support and the option to integrate a compatible JRE directly into agent packs.

These are just some of the highlights of Broadcom Automic Automation V24.3. In the full video we dive deeper into all of them and more.
