What’s New in Automic Version 24.2? – Discover the Most Valuable Improvements

Automic Automation Version 24.2 marks the second minor release in the V24 series – and it’s full of features that customers have been waiting for. From usability enhancements to security upgrades and REST API extensions, this update significantly improves how you work with Automic. Our video walks you through all the highlights.

What’s new in the Automic Web Interface (AWI)?

AWI version 24.2 introduces several enhancements that boost daily productivity:

Integrated Help – Context-aware support at your fingertips

The new Integrated Help feature lets you access relevant documentation and resources directly within the AWI. By clicking the question mark icon, a side panel opens showing help content for your current view. You’ll also find links to documentation, videos, community pages – and even a preview version of the AI Assistant, which allows you to ask questions in natural language.

Use Transport Case directly in AWI

You can now import and export Transport Case files directly in the AWI – no more external workarounds. The feature is powered by the REST API and simplifies object migration across environments.

Increased security for SQLI-VARA objects

V24.2 introduces an important security upgrade: administrators can now assign a dedicated database user to SQLI-VARA objects. By configuring the SQLI_LOGIN parameter in UC_SYSTEM_SETTINGS, you can prevent unauthorized write access and tighten database security.

REST API extensions

The REST API continues to grow in V24.2 – here are the main highlights:

User tokens for secure authentication

In addition to basic authentication, you can now use user tokens (bearer tokens). Tokens can be created via the API or in the AWI and offer a flexible, time-bound way to authenticate securely. A new permission (“Token access and token creation”) is required.

Transport Case management via REST

You can now import and export Transport Case files via the REST API, enabling automation of deployment workflows.

New ZDU endpoint for automation

The new ZDU endpoint allows you to manage Zero Downtime Upgrades through the REST API, making it easier to perform seamless upgrades without disrupting ongoing processes.

Summary: A Minor Release Packed with Impact

Automic 24.2 delivers meaningful improvements for AWI users, administrators, and API developers alike. Watch the full video to explore all the new features and learn how they can simplify your workflows and enhance security.
