What’s New in V26.0 – Administration, Maintenance and Upgrades

Automic Automation V26 introduces a number of changes that are directly relevant to administrators. This video provides a concise overview of the most important new features in architecture, database maintenance, zero-downtime upgrades, centralized agent upgrades, compatibility, and security.

The focus is on:

  • Architecture: new work process roles, agent status, and secure connection channels,
  • Operations: SAP multi-system support, database maintenance, and transport cases,
  • Upgrade Planning: ZDU, CAU, compatibility, and security.

The Automation Engine now includes new work process roles for sync objects and objects with MAX_PARALLEL. The agent list also distinguishes between active, inactive, and agents awaiting authentication. Java-based agents can use an HTTPS proxy to connect to the JCP. OS CallAPIs can communicate with the JCP via the TLS Gateway using TLS/SSL encryption. Java and SAP CallAPIs are not affected by this change: They already use TLS/SSL and connect directly to the Automation Engine via the JCP. An SAP agent can now serve multiple target systems because the R3 connection can also be defined at the job level.

One key feature is integrated database maintenance. Archiving, audit reports, reorganization, unloading, and emptying the trash can be initiated via AWI or REST. The existing UC_UTILITY_* settings and traditional utilities remain relevant. The video also demonstrates how to view statuses, reports, and downloads of client-wide operations in the Client History. For transport cases, the size limit for uc_data.txt does not apply; MAX_TC_SIZE is ignored, and sequential processing allows for partial successes.

With ZDU, the AWI can be updated first during the upgrade. ZDU_PORT controls the REST process, which is switched over with minimal disruption. The new CAU Target Version column—hidden by default—displays the saved target state. This can be reset to preserve a manually selected agent version.

Finally, the video outlines PostgreSQL 13 as the new minimum version for the affected components, higher minimum AWI browser versions, and the announcements regarding AIX and DB2. Opt-in Password Encryption, SSO-only login, and XOAuth2 for SMTP round out the rollout checklist.
