OPX08 - Process Monitoring Filter

In this lab, we’ll show you how to locate and analyse specific tasks and executions in Process Monitoring. You’ll learn how to combine filters effectively, avoid common pitfalls and get results faster. We’ll also look at practical features such as saved filters and exporting, as well as special features like aliases.

Finding tasks and executions in Automic – using Process Monitoring correctly

In everyday Automic use it is crucial to find tasks and executions quickly and precisely. But between global search and Process Monitoring it is not always immediately clear which function is appropriate when – and why some results may appear incomplete.

In this article you will learn how to use both tools sensibly.

From the global search into Process Monitoring

The global search is ideal for a quick start – for example to find objects or specific executions (e.g. by RunID).

For a complete analysis, however, there is no way around Process Monitoring. Here you see all relevant executions and can narrow them down deliberately.

Filter and analyze effectively

A central component is the correct handling of filters. Among other things you will learn:

  • How to combine status filters

  • When the list view is more useful than the hierarchy view

  • How to extend, combine, and explicitly exclude filters

  • Which additional filter criteria and columns help you

This way you get exactly the information you really need.

Important functions for everyday use

In addition, you will cover practical features such as:

  • Including disabled tasks

  • Saving and reusing filters

  • Exporting search results

  • Analysis of SYNC usage and peculiarities such as Alias

The article is aimed at operators who want to structure and make their work in Process Monitoring more efficient.
