OPX04 – Analysing Blocked Workflows

The course ‘OPX04 – Analysing Blocked Workflows’ provides experienced Automic operators with the necessary expertise to reliably identify process blockages and evaluate them correctly as part of the Operator Expert learning path. In a practical lab environment, six realistic scenarios are used to train participants in the targeted handling of blockage mechanisms such as pre- and post-conditions in order to strengthen their analytical skills in operational use.

Analysing blocked workflows – practical knowledge for Automic operators

Blocked workflows are among the most common and critical situations in Automic operations. Tasks are on hold, nothing is moving forward – and in the worst case, downstream processes or entire processing chains come to a standstill. In OPX04 – Analysing Blocked Workflows, you will learn as an Automic Operator why workflows become blocked, how to reliably identify the cause and how to deal with it correctly. The course is part of the Operator Expert learning path and is aimed at operators with experience in monitoring and handling workflows. Blockages in Automic do not occur randomly. They are usually deliberately implemented mechanisms to protect data, systems or processing. This course focuses on precisely these mechanisms. Among other things, you will deal with:
  • PostConditions that specifically block follow-up jobs
  • PreConditions that stop tasks before they start
  • Status expectations that depend on the previous status
  • Manual breakpoints that require a conscious operator decision
  • Time conditions such as a missed latest start time
You will not only learn how these blockages manifest themselves in the Workflow Monitor, but also why they cannot always be easily removed. OPX04 is a purely practical lab without videos. You will work in a preconfigured lab environment with six prepared exercise scenarios that illustrate typical causes of blocked workflows. The exercises guide you step by step through real-life blocking situations that occur in everyday operator work. A particular focus is placed on the correct assessment of blockages: Not every technical option is also technically correct – and it is precisely this distinction that is crucial in the event of a malfunction. Finally, you will search for blocked workflows system-wide in Process Monitoring and independently analyse an unknown blocking condition. This exercise prepares you specifically for the final test, after which you will receive your course certificate. If you no longer want to wonder why nothing is working in Automic operations, OPX04 is the logical next step in the Operator Expert learning path.
