DS17 - Calendar (CALE)

When should your job run? On the last working day of the month? But only if it’s not a Friday? With calendar events in Automic, you can define exactly these kinds of conditions! In this course, you’ll learn how to create and combine calendar events – from simple days of the week to complex calculations such as ‘the last working day before Christmas’.

Calendar objects are your tools for time-based automation control in Automic!

In this course you'll learn how to define and combine calendar events to create precise date conditions.

In this course you'll learn:

  • What calendar objects and calendar events are
  • The six event types: One-time, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly, Group and Offset
  • Where calendar events are used (Schedules, Workflows, Queues, User objects)
  • How to search for and reuse existing events

You won't just learn the theory — you'll also see and practice a hands-on example: the "Payday" — the last working day of the month taking holidays into account! We'll combine all event types and see how powerful the Automic calendar system really is.

A special highlight are group events and offset events: With groups you combine existing events (e.g. weekends + holidays = non-working days). With offsets you adjust dates relative to other events — perfect for scenarios like "last working day of the month" instead of "last calendar day".

You'll also learn important maintenance details: One-time events like Easter must be maintained manually, while calculated events are maintenance-free. And you'll learn how to automatically calculate Easter-dependent holidays like the Ascension Day!

You can perform the hands-on exercises yourself on a PEM-Designerlab and thus deepen what you've learned.

At the end there's a multiple-choice final test waiting for you. If you pass it, you'll receive a certificate — the perfect proof of your new skills! This course is ideal for anyone who already has basic knowledge of Automic and wants to take their time-based control to the next level. Start now and become a calendar pro!
