OPX03 – Workflows Advanced

In this course, you will dive deep into advanced work with Automic workflows – from IF and FOREACH workflows to external dependencies and modifying running workflows. You will learn in a practical way why workflows behave the way they do and how you, as an operator, can respond confidently. Perfect for anyone who wants to not only monitor Automic workflows, but truly understand them.

Advanced Workflows in Automic Automation

Workflows are a central element in Automic Automation – especially in the everyday work of operators. The OPX03 – Advanced Workflows course builds on OP10 and provides practical knowledge for reliably analysing, understanding and specifically influencing ongoing workflows. This course is aimed at operators who want to go beyond pure monitoring and make informed assessments of workflow behaviour. IF and FOREACH workflows in the Automic Workflow Monitor In OPX03, you will learn how to recognise and correctly interpret the special workflow types IF and FOREACH in the Automic Workflow Monitor. You will deal with the structure of true and false paths, loops in FOREACH workflows, and the behaviour of these workflow types during restarts (reruns), in which conditions and loop runs are re-evaluated.

Understanding and resolving external dependencies in Automic

External dependencies are a common cause of waiting workflows. The course shows you how external dependencies (<XTRNL>) are displayed in the workflow monitor, which temporal and logical conditions are checked, and how you can systematically analyse waiting external dependencies. You will learn when it makes sense to wait and when intervention is necessary.

Prompt sets, pre-conditions and post-conditions in workflows

Another focus is on special task properties. You will learn about the behaviour of prompt sets in workflow tasks, understand the difference between automatic evaluation and forced user input, and see how pre-conditions and post-conditions are used to control workflow logic and pass on data.

Customising running Automic workflows with modify mode

Finally, you will learn about modify mode. You will learn how to customise running workflows in a targeted manner – from task changes and dependency adjustments to runtime settings. A practical course lab for anyone who wants to really get to grips with Automic workflows.
