What’s New in Automic Version 24.1? – Highlights from the First Minor Release

Automic Version 24.1 marks the first minor update since V24.0 and includes much more than just bug fixes. This release introduces powerful new features in user and client management, AWI accessibility, REST API extensions, and enhancements for SaaS and Kubernetes environments.

Better accessibility in the Automic Web Interface (AWI)

The status icons in AWI have been redesigned to be larger and more contrasting. These changes improve visibility for all users, especially those with visual impairments – another important step in Broadcom’s commitment to accessibility.

REST API updates: Full control over users and clients

The REST API gets a major upgrade in V24.1:

  • You can now create users directly via the API
  • Active user sessions can be terminated through API calls
  • A new move endpoint allows you to transfer users from client 0 to other clients

These changes simplify user management and enable deeper API-driven automation.

New admin tools: Telemetry & encryption

V24.1 introduces new tools for administrators:

  • Telemetry data can now be exported directly from AWI in CSV format
  • The ucybcryp encryption utility is now available for Linux, improving platform support for secure credential management

These updates support better security, transparency, and operational efficiency.

Upgrades for SaaS & Kubernetes (AAKE)

For users running Automic as SaaS or in Kubernetes, V24.1 brings major convenience:

  • SaaS customers can now create new users themselves
  • The Helm plugin is now optional for AAKE
  • Containers now run in restricted mode for increased security
  • Helm chart upgrades have been improved to streamline deployments

These changes give IT teams more flexibility while increasing platform resilience.

New integrations for greater connectivity

V24.1 adds support for FTP integration over HTTP proxy connections, offering more robust and secure options for environments with strict network requirements.

Summary: Stability, usability, and stronger control

Automic 24.1 delivers more than just incremental improvements. With new features for admins, developers, and cloud users, it enhances the day-to-day experience, improves security, and gives you more control. This video tutorial walks you through all the key updates and how to benefit from them.
